Medicare A covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled care nursing facilities, hospice and some home health care. It also covers surgeries, lab tests and doctor visits.
Medicare B covers certain procedures and surgeries, medical supplies, some outpatient care and preventative services.
Medicare C is a private insurance that is an option for supplemental coverage. Most Advantage plans provide you with all of your Medicare A and B benefits. Some also include Medicare D coverage as well.
Medicare D is prescription coverage. Medicare does not cover prescription costs so you must join a private insurance carrier to receive prescription coverage. Many Medicare Advantage plans include prescription coverage.
