Discount Drug Mart understands that the coronavirus outbreak is a concern that everyone is facing. We are working diligently to ensure our customers and associates are in a clean, safe environment while ensuring product is available to purchase at our everyday prices. As one would expect, paper products, cleaning supplies, groceries and other items are in high demand as customers prepare for the potential impact of COVID-19. We know that we may experience temporary shortages of these products but are continuing to work closely with our suppliers to keep these shortages to a minimum and replenish as quickly as possible. We have also authorized our management to closely monitor their inventories and regulate sales, so we can continue to provide essential products for all of our loyal customers.
At this time, no one knows how severe this outbreak will be. Due to the high volume of customers and the seasonal influenza (flu) virus also being widespread, stores are cleaning multiple times daily and are focusing on high-traffic and high-touched areas. We will continue to make adjustments as needed to ensure we are following the proper guidelines laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as our local health departments.
Discount Drug Mart has taken several steps thus far, to include issuing a revised cleaning protocol to our stores for our associates to focus on. Disinfecting sprays and gloves are also provided to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
It is critical that employees do not report to work while they are experiencing respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, or shortness of breath. Currently, the CDC recommends that employees remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100.4 degrees F) or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications. Many times, with the best of intentions, employees report to work even though they feel ill. Employees who report to work ill will be sent home in accordance with these health guidelines.
Discount Drug Mart will continue to receive updates and follow the direction of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), state and local health agencies.
Discount Drug Mart remains committed your health and safety and thanks you for the opportunity to serve you.
