SYNC your MEDS Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  What are the benefits I can expect when enrolling in the Sync your Meds Program?

A.  By utilizing this convenient, NEW way in having all your prescriptions filled the same day each month you will:

  • Eliminate the need to call in or stop by to order prescription refills.
  • Make fewer trips to the pharmacy.
  • Have freedom from worries about running out of your medication.
  • Know prescriptions are ready on the pick-up date we’ve selected together.
  • Receive personalized service from our pharmacists with monthly medication reviews.

Q.  Am I a good ‘candidate’ for Sync your Meds?

A.  ANYONE taking medications on a monthly basis can find benefits as described above by enrolling in Sync Your Meds at Discount Drug Mart.  In its early stages, we have found SYNC your MEDS to be most beneficial in the following patient populations:

  • Patients taking multiple, on-going monthly medications
  • Patients new to chronic drug therapy
  • Patients with known challenges with taking medications on a consistent basis.
  • Patients who rely on the assistance of a caregiver for their pharmacy needs.
  • Patients who find travel to the pharmacy difficult.

Q.  Should I expect to see an enrollment charge or monthly fees associated with SYNC your MEDS?

A.  NO.  At Discount Drug Mart, we are committed to making a positive impact as a vital member of YOUR healthcare team.  SYNC your MEDS is yet another important and unique way we will enhance your experience at Discount Drug Mart while setting us apart from our competition.

Q.  What will be expected of ME as a patient enrolled in SYNC your MEDS?

A.  You will be required to sign a (one-time) patient agreement form as confirmation of your active participation with SYNC your MEDS.  The patient agreement form outlines the benefits of the program as described above AND the patient ‘conditions’ associated with SYNC your MEDS, listed below:

  • Accept and participate in ONE phone call each month from the pharmacy to discuss your prescription refills and medication profile.
  • Have prescriptions included in SYNC your MEDS processed and filled for a one month supply.
  • Pick up medications on agreed upon ‘Appointment Date’ (pick-up date).
  • Pay an extra co-pay one-time for each medication if necessary in order to make all refills due on the same day.  (initial synchronization)
  • Keep an open dialogue with your DDM pharmacist regarding doctor’s appointments, hospital/urgent care visits, and changes in my health status.
  • Discontinue participation in our Auto Prefill and/or Refill Reminder Program as SYNC your MEDS will serve the purpose of assisting you in the management of your medications.
  • Allow our pharmacists to discuss your medication profile as part of our SYNC your MEDS program with your caregiver(s).

Q.  Is it possible to involve or at least notify my physicians of the SYNC your MEDS program and my participation?

A.  Absolutely.  The success of the program is directly tied to communication with your physicians.  This is one of the most important benefits of SYNC your MEDS for you.  By reviewing your medication profile on a MONTHLY basis with YOU and YOUR PHYSICIANS, we will assure that we’ll all be on the same page.

Q.  How will my ‘Appointment Date’ (pick-up date) be determined?

A.  Our pharmacists will work with you in determining an ideal Appointment Date.  We will look to synchronize your medications in the most convenient and cost efficient manner for you.

Q.  How long will it take to synchronize all of my medications?

A.  Time to synchronize will vary based on several factors including the complexity of your medication profile and our strategies in minimizing potential out of pocket costs in the one-time synchronization of some of your refills.  Most typically, we are able to sync your meds in a month’s time with our goal being no more than three months from enrollment to synchronization.

Q.  Is it likely my monthly Appointment Date will change from time to time?

A.  Yes.  It may be necessary to move your Appointment Date a day or so since not every month consists of 30 days.  The Appointment Date may need to be flexible at times to allow changes over the course of a 365-day year.  This flexibility will help to accommodate due dates that are not in line with patients’ travel schedules, illness, or other issues that could prevent you from coming in on an exact date.

Q.  What happens if I can’t pick up my medications on my synchronization date?

A.  The timing by which the prescriptions are picked up may affect subsequent Appointment Dates for you.  For the program to be successful, it is important to pick up medications ON (or extremely close-to) the mutually agreed upon Appointment Date.  Your active participation and cooperation with SYNC your MEDS and our pharmacy team will is valuable to the success of the program.

Q.  Will every one of my medications be included in the SYNC your MEDS program?

A.  Not necessarily.  Some medications may not be good ‘candidates’ for the program, such as seasonal medications, creams, ointments, eye drops, and ‘as-needed’ products.

Q.  Does Discount Drug Mart have the ability to ship prescription in the event I would like to continue with SYNC your MEDS, but am scheduled to take an extended vacation or spend several months in another state?

A.  Yes.  We can UPS Rx packages with the patient responsible for the additional shipping fee.

Q.  What if I opt-in but decide I am unable to participate at a later date?

A.   You would simply notify the Pharmacist.  As a reminder, you would then be responsible for ordering your prescriptions or participating in our Auto Prefill or Refill Reminder program from that point forward.
